IATA Airport codes may be something you don’t necessarily pay attention to, but they can be very handy to know. Discover our guide to IATA airport codes, so you can fly to your destination in confidence.

What Are IATA Codes?

IATA stands for International Air Transport Association, which are individual codes for each airport in the world. However, bus or ferry stations may also be eligible for these codes too. Each IATA code allocated is created with three characters to provide a unique code for each location across the world. The purpose of these codes are essential for the identification of the airline, their destinations and its traffic documents. They can also be beneficial for a user when trying to navigate to new locations, such as flying direct to Greece from the US or directly from London to Greece or Italy.
